Like all of our programs, our approach to environmental studies is integrated - weaving together different perspectives and disciplines to provide you with a holistic view with one-of-a-kind course offerings that get you out in the field and experiencing some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. You’ll get an unforgettable education in places like the Grand Canyon, Norway, and Kino Bay, Mexico. Students can also expand their studies by completing required courses through our partners with EcoLeague or CIEL.
The Bachelor of Science degree in environmental studies is for students seeking rigorous multidisciplinary exploration of the natural systems and processes of the Earth and the role of humans who both depend on and influence these systems and processes. With a strong foundation in the natural sciences and a broad understanding of the policy implications of environmental science, students with this degree will be well prepared for graduate study in this field and for employment with both public agencies and private businesses working toward a more sustainable future.
Students will become well-informed about natural history and ecology as a context in which to embed their scientific study. The aim of our degrees in environmental studies is to develop ecologically literate, informed, and responsible citizens who are prepared to offer constructive solutions to environmental problems, and to help develop sustainable relationships between people and nature.
